Emperor Palpatine

As ruler, though, he ruled with an iron hand and showed no mercy. He was originally senator of the Galactic Republic where he had the foresight to see the Republic begin to crumble under lies and corruption. He had his change to take over the power during a trade embargo where the Trade Federation invaded Naboo. Queen Amidala, Naboo’s leader, asked Palpatine for help. They both pleaded with the Senate for assistance but the Trade Federation was causing delays with this request. Chancellor Valorum was voted out of office after Palpatine advised the Queen to call for a Vote of No Confidence in the Republic. This left a space open and Palpatine was nominated for that spot. Palpatine became Chencellor when he got the sympathy vote and he promised to bring peace and justice back. But he was unable to keep his promises and the Republic continued with chaos.
